Now that I have been using the xponent, I can finally use the internal record function within Torq to send the digital tracks straight into a digital recording. So I have been recording the recent sessions, this one turned out a’ight
The mix is rather varied, from house to club tracks to electro. Still getting used to using jog wheels instead of the trusty 1210s, but they sure are handy for backspins!

I’m not posting individual tracks on this one since most are from prior BTs anyway. Email me if you want something and can’t find it.
Finally found some time to spend in the “studio” amidst my heavy touring schedule… hahaha. Two months is quite the hiatus, but I like to think that the BlogTrolls have been holding things down in the interim. Sharing the tracks that are going into my crate hopefully preserves the OoC sound in between mixes, so the podcasts should be “more of the same” for readers that enjoy the weekly offerings.
There are so many different sounds that I enjoy, so it’s fun to explore the tracks that aren’t quite bumping enough for the dancefloor in mixtapes. But with the big HIPSTER TWISTER party coming up next month, I wanted to capture more of what I would play for a banging live set–electro, of course!
BTW, the fellow nerds out there may recognize the Alex Gopher track from its radio airplay in Liberty City. Purely coincidence, I swear.

Damn, that one took a while to click, too. Didn’t realize the last podcast was almost a month ago. I was feeling the lack of guitar riffs and lyrics on the house session, so this time around was going to be quite the pendulum swing back to the indie side of things. So many groovy tracks coming out lately from the BlogTroll regulars that whittling down the selections proved to be quite a feat!
I’ll admit that I held back posting the GnR remix earlier to save some thunder for the next mix… Great track. Been dying to share that one.
Including the Midnight Juggernauts track was fun, as it was kind of a personal throw-back to Cut Copy’s Fabriclive release a few years ago. I have been in love with electro ever since.

Ok, G-Unit, here it is–the often eluded to, never quite finished house mix. Just for you, homey. No guitars or analog instruments, no indie whining. Just pure unadulterated house music with a thumping four-four beat. This will have admittedly less blog appeal, but that’s just the way it goes. I’m still a househead underneath this hipster veneer, and putting this mix together was a quite a pleasurable process.
It starts off very melodic with Falke and gets progressively harder and dirtier by the end, culminating in who else but a MSTRKRFT track. Includes new tracks from the BlogTroll as well as some older, personal faves.
It was interesting that it took me quite a bit longer than usual to feel good about the structure and cohesiveness of this one. I guess I really have found my EDM niche, and this was a bit of a deviation from it. Nevertheless, this is a fun mix and was a good opportunity to pull out some of the bangers that don’t otherwise fit the indie mold.

Well, I said I wasn’t going to make this mix a podcast, but after listening several times, I really like it. Especially that Daft to Human League transition. Quite pleased with myself on that one. Plus, I always drag ass on setting the gear back up after a gig, and haven’t mixed anything for a week…
It’s a bit longer than usual, and has a very clear progression as the pace picks up and the synths kick in over the course of the mix. Be sure to click over to the TC Tracks page to download any songs that you find especially groovy…

I have been listening to some disco edits lately, so I was in a more disco-oriented mode for this mix. I like to think that there is already a strong disco element in my sound niche, so I was not surprised when the set turned out similar to prior ones, albeit with higher-pitched male vocals. Should have thrown some Scissor Sisters in there… Still plenty of the guitars and distorted synths that you love.

Alright, party people. I re-recorded an excerpt of the Five Headed Birthday set so that everyone could relive the magic. The first 14 tracks from the “Main Event” playlist are included. Big thanks to Gabe for lighting the fire under me to start using Garageband to make the podcasts a little more official. Notice the artwork that follows along with the track info now! Hell yeah. I’ll get this uploaded to iTunes soon, too. Then new mixes will be downloaded automatically, and I will be launched into the elite world of the Superstar DJ. haha
I opted to not record any witty banter over the tracks. Mainly because the tracks speak for themselves, but also because I have a cold right now and I’m quite nasally. Eventually I’d like to have some intros to the mixes to give context, but it has felt kinda silly when I’ve recorded snippets in the past. Still not quite as cool as U-Tern…
Lemme know if any of you Out of Controller regulars would be interested in the iTunes podcast though. It’d give me more motivation to get around to that development.
