The Essential Mix on Radio 1 had its 500th act last Saturday, with over 900 Saturdays and 900 sweet dance music sessions — and none other than Aeroplane were selected to man the decks.
The occasion got me digging back through my pile of old EM’s, and this one by Massive Attack is the oldest one I have. Reminded me of the era of 1990s hip hop that made me fall in love with the genre. Funky breaks and good flows. Why can’t hip hop be like this anymore… Anyhoo, enjoy.

No track list on this one, bust rest assured it’s some smoooooth house music, the likes of which the blogosphere has grown to expect from the LA duo’s productions and remixes. Recorded back in August, I think.
Have thought Evil Nine were a great addition to the Marine Parade label for a minute now, and really enjoyed their promo work for latest single, The Live, as zombies. Now I can’t keep from conjuring up memories of 1980s horror movie soundtracks when I hear their stuff, including this vintage electronica mix. Pretty mellow, a little creepy at times.
