I hope everyone is enjoying the feats of strength and bearing of grievances this morning…
I grew up being read bible stories, so I am familiar with the names and characters. I think our picture bible was set in 1975 America — a bunch of white guys with beards and sandals. Anyway, I recall Shadrak, Mishak and Abednigo from the stories, so “Shadrak, Mishak and a bad negro” was particularly amusing.
Smooth spoken word over groovy new wave. Merry xmas, ya’ll.
Gary Numan vs. Jemini - Jesus was a B-Boy (Ben Mono’s Holy Rerub)

Another pre-planned playlist that was great on the ipod but frustrating to implement on the decks, and I lately I’ve been hell-bent on learning new Torq bells and whistles like effect snapshots. So when my head was sufficiently sore it finally occurred to me to get back to basics with some of the good ol’ indie vibes that have been neglected as of late in favor of bangers.
Key word here: smooth. I had separated the indie genus into ‘dance indie’ and ’synth indie’ species, so I tried to weave those together. I also had a theory brewing that indie beats would blend well with french house, so I tossed in a couple tracks to test. Theory proved!

Andre 3000 ain’t got shit on a PacNW winter. It isn’t technically even winter yet, but has been pretty wintery for this SoCal transplant. I saw the snowflake icon on my dashboard for the first time (looks like pac-man above) and scraped snow off my car for the first time.
I didn’t think I needed to clear off the hood or roof because it would just blow off when I was driving. This was correct, but the handiness wore off quick when I got on the freeway and all the snow made a mini-blizzard on my windshield. Funny to write here, but was a bit panic-inducing for a minute. Good thing everyone drives 55 on the freeway up here. (not really)
<cheesy transition>Good thing I have some red-hot house music to keep me going!</cheesy transition> Not much to say about 4 to the Floor or Pierce since they are new to me, other than they rock. Hard. And I’m lazy.
Phonat - Learn to Recycle (4 to the Floor remix)
Pierce - Love Conga
Time to throw another log on the fire.

Been getting caught up on blog haus now that all the school crap is done, and here are a few tastey grooves to expedite your weekend. First up, a breezy jam by Vyle, produced by wunderkind, Shazam. A special shout-out to my homies in San Diego on this one, makes me think pool party all the way. Maybe just wishful thinking since Seattle will have a HIGH of 36 tomorrow…
Not to preach to the choir, but how blowing up is Little Boots?!? As much as I dug Stuck on Repeat, I didn’t pay as much attention to Meddle once everyone and their mother started posting remixes. That is, until Treasure Fingers worked his magic. I think watching several videos of her singing in various living rooms won me over — Little Boots is the girl next door of house music.

Aww yeah. JBL just came out with their new Eon model, so I picked up these 15P-1’s for like half price since Guitar Center is looking make room for the new ones. Been looking to add a PA and complete the mobile setup, and these bad boys are both more powerful and still in my price range. One more gig to recoup for these, then it’s subwoofer time. Then look out.
Note the beer for context. That is a tallboy, my friends — dwarfed by the 15″ers. Can’t wait to play the new-ish (I’ve been busy) Tiga leak on them.

This final quarter of classes is over next week, which means final exams and research projects are upon me. This also means that I have been spending time on a new podcast instead, naturally.
Been digging hard on this remix by Klumpfisk lately, which kind of set the vibe for the mix. Give it about a minute of build and then it blows the fuck up.
Studio - West Side (Klumpfisk remix)
oh ah oh, oh oh, ah ah ah oh, oh ah, ah ah oh oh oh, oh ah ah ah oh….
