I think I had seen a remix of a Codebreaker track before or something because the name was familiar. I’ve really been digging this track–a little slower, almost funky.
Codebreaker - Fire feat. Kathy Diamond
I hadn’t heard of Grand Popo Football Club before, but they’re french and featured on DiscoDelicious, so you know they’re solid. Here is their big hit from 2001.
Grand Popo Football Club - Men are not Nice Guys
I was a little underwhelmed by Pocket Symphony, and I got it at the same time as like 100 gb of other music, so I haven’t thought about Air in a minute. Talkie Walkie was awesome though, and Mark Ronson adds his usual funky drum kit to the whistling.
Air - Alpha Beta Gaga (Mark Ronson instrumental mix)
I can’t get enough Shinichi Osawa, but this is a lot lighter than his usual electro bangers. He makes Popular Computer’s pop track even prettier.
Popular Computer - Lost & Found (Shinichi Osawa remix)
I (along with the rest of the world) have grown to really like the smooth synth sounds of Anoraak. His version of the Romantics hit is cool. Wow, that was an insightful review…
Anoraak - Talking in Your Sleep (Romantics cover)
Once I heard one remix by 25 Hours a Day, I gobbled up as many others as I could. They are also from France (who isn’t these days?), and made me remember how much I love this guitar-driven disco punk sound. Here is just a taste of how awesome they are.
Phoenix - Long Distance Call (25 Hours a Day remix)
Cassius - See Me Now (25 Hours a Day remix)
Le Castle Vania has been taking the electro world by storm, but some of his stuff has honestly been a little too harsh for me. I had heard this Pumpkins track in a mix this summer though, and almost dropped my macbook when I saw it on the toof. This rocks.
Smashing Pumpkins - Zero (Le Castle Vania re-edit)
We’ll keep going with the bangers. Don Rimini has been blowing up lately with his rave sounds. This one isn’t as stabby as his Bust a Move remix, more arpeggiated. I love when Jay-Z calls out the Oasis tools. Hey, Gallagher brothers: you are not the Beatles. Get over yourselves.
Jay-Z - Jockin’ Jay-Z (Don Rimini remix)
Adam Tensta has been remixed a bunch in the past, must of which I’ve liked. Here is the latest with a heavy-duty electro riddim.
