WMC 2008

I had found some banging remixes by Blamma! Blamma! in the past, and here is a new production on their forthcoming EP. The guitar and vocals chorus is a nice little interlude and makes for a good build when the beat drops back in.

Blamma! Blamma! - Only Friend

Chew Fu continues to be as prolific as ever. Here is his new “fix” of a track by the Fagget Fairys, who have also gotten love in the past on PalmsOut. The man can’t be stopped.

Fagget Fairys - Samo Ti (Chew Fu fix)

For those that dug the intro track to the last podcast, here are a couple new remixes from Combo. Dancepunk, disco indie or whatever you call it–this is it. And I love it.

Heads We Dance - My Heart is Set on You (Combo remix)
Culture Prophet - Loose 79 (Combo remix)

The Drugs in my Body remix by Designer Drugs is still by far my favorite (though The Twelves came a very close second). Their latest remixing efforts are just as glorious–hard beats with a dash of emo.

Hail Social - Heaven (Designer Drugs remix)
Protokoll - Moving Forward (Designer Drugs remix)

I’ve raved about several great remixes from Lismore before, and now they get a dose of their own medicine. Heavy, techy bassline and layer upon layer of melodies make a good backdrop for the vocals.

Lismore - Paradis (Udachi remix)

Switch completely does away with the charming indie vibe and transforms this Mystery Jets track for the club. Found myself humming and bobbing along to the simplistic melody…

Mystery Jets - Hideaway (Switch remix)

New on my radar, Overthrill will certainly stay on it for a while with this banger. Sweet back-and-forth beat and repeat effects. Funky almost slap bass loop towards the end.

Overthrill - Revolver

I was happiest to see that Prince was added to the Coachella lineup because he will hopefully be playing at the same time as Portishead. Really looking forward to that show, and hopefully I can get even closer to the stage now. Beth Gibbons’ haunting voice translates well over Exillon’s double-time electro house beats.

Portishead - Silence (Exillon remix)
